The Project

Risk Control has been awarded the technical inspection contract for the redevelopment project of the Grand Site of the Eiffel Tower in Paris’ 7th arrondissement, covering an area of 54 hectares.

The aim of the project is to adapt the site to an ever-increasing visitor flow (outside the COVID period). Indeed, the area welcomes over 27 million tourists each year. First proposed in 2017 and launched in 2021, the project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2024.

Risk Control’s Support

This project was designed to align with the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, set to take place in Paris. The main objective is to reorganize and green the spaces surrounding the Eiffel Tower as part of a large-scale landscaping initiative.

The Mayor of Paris expressed her vision:
“I want the Eiffel Tower and its surroundings to become a true place for walking and relaxation, especially on weekends for families. Paris must be a city where parents can safely let go of their child’s hand.”
This new urban landscape will create a seamless connection from the Trocadéro to the École Militaire, passing through the Eiffel Tower.
The goal is to launch a major greening operation around this highly symbolic and touristic monument — transforming the area into a “vast promenade dedicated to pedestrians and nature” (as stated by the City of Paris), breathing new life into one of the capital’s most visited spaces.

The Developments

Among the key developments, five main projects stand out:

  • The creation of a green amphitheater on the Trocadéro Square,
  • The construction of stone terraces on the Varsovie Esplanade overlooking the fountain of the same name,
  • The Pont d’Iéna, which will become mainly pedestrian and the first green bridge in Paris,
  • The renovation of the Eiffel Tower’s pillars, highlighting the impressive ascent of its elevators,
  • And the redesign of the vegetation on the Champ-de-Mars.
